This first edition copy is signed by the author, and is illustrated by Loren Barton. The book was published by The Viking Press of New York in 1936. The hardcover is a russet color with the symbol of the Viking Press, a large sailing ship, in the lower right corner. The spine of the book contains the title, the authors name, and publishers name all written in silver letters, which are still readable, however the color of the spine has faded with age. The interior of the book is in very good condition, the binding is tight and the pages are clean. The book contains 281 pages. The wonderful color portrait of Beppy Marlowe is presented on the page prior to the story. Below is the table of contents.
