Wallace Nutting was a man of many professions: photographer, writer, furniture maker to mane the most well known. His series of books “… (States name) Beautiful” advertised his photographs. He popularized hand colored photographs, and produced more than any other studio, in the late 1800’s through to the early 1900’s. They are very collectible, and usually very good quality photographs.
This Lake scene is a signed and framed hand colored photograph. It is very artistically done, with the edge of the road in the foreground, a blossoming tree on the left and a white birch tree on the left, with the blue lake in the background. The picture is 3” x 3 ¾”, and is framed to 6” x 6 ¾”.
